When Science meets Art – Exposition FLUX

Last weekend on the 18th and 19th of September, the exposition ‘Flux’ was held in the Transport Artspace in Maastricht. Luc Leufkens organized this exposition because he saw an opportunity to bring science closer to society. During his research for the sustainable buildings program at Brightlands Materials Center, he discovered beautiful crystal structures. Besides their interesting shape, the crystals are developed for the thermochromic smart windows. He brought these two characteristics together in order to appeal a larger public.

‘With art boundaries within society can be broken and new opportunities can be uncovered’

By visualising the thermochromic effect, he tried to make visitors more curious of the materials that are developed at Brightlands Materials Center. He also tried to make people more conscious about the already existing technologies around us today.
