SunSmart is Brightlands Materials Center Thermochromic Solar Control development for architectural glazing. The coating can change its properties from infrared transparent to Infrared (heat) blocking depending on the glass temperature. The visible transparency remains the same upon switching.
Based upon the high performance properties (link to SunSmart folder) and the positive results in test buildings, Brightlands Materials Center is taking the next step in developing thermochromic solutions for automotive glazing and in particular for SunRoof and Panoramaroof applications.
By using thermochromic solutions both comfort levels in the car and range extension for electrical cars can be achieved.
